Southfields Sweater

Miranda Jollie (aka Hanwell Knitter) has very generously donated a second pattern to P/HOP – a jumper no less.  Perfect for those spring days ahead when we no longer need our coats but still need a good jumper to keep off that remaining winter chill.

This light sweater is so easy to knit and finish that Miranda managed to make hers throughout the excitement of Andy Murray’s 2013 Wimbeldon final!  The majority of the pattern is in stocking stitch, a great was to show off a beautiful yarn with a little texture, perhaps, or alternatively, in a neutral shade it is the perfect non-clashing cover up for your prettiest spring and summer florals.  The lattice panels are inspired by tennis nets and straw hats and the simple dropped shoulder construction is flattering and fashionable.  Miranda has named the sweater Southfields – which, confusingly, is the Underground station for the Wimbledon Tennis Club.
