The generous and talented designer Sadie Slater has designed these intriguing socks inspired by Tzenni Boccamera, the heroine of Ankaret Wells’s novels.
Here’s Sadie’s inspiration for the pattern:
“Tzenni Boccamera, has a rose as her emblem and a terrible fear of heights, especially staircases. The socks she inspired combine a rose pattern (based on the Rosebud Lace from Barbara Walker’s first Treasury of Knitting Patterns) with a knit/purl pattern representing staircases. I knitted mine in green, because that is the Boccamera family colour, but it’s not a requirement!”
These socks are designed to fit a 9″ / 23cm foot circumference, however the pattern is easily adapted to suit wider widths, guidelines for doing so are included in the pattern.
The socks differ slightly from right to left giving the finished pair a pleasing symmetry.
All patterns have been generously donated to the project by designers to raise funds for MSF and are available for your knitting and crocheting pleasure.
